WMCFW: Day 2

On Day 2, I was able to attend 4 shows: Narces, Vawk, Melissa Nepton and David Dixon. The 4 collections were good but nothing really stood out to me. Narces consisted of playful evening wear with a black, red, ivory and gold palette. Designer Sunny Fong of Vawk decided to have a bit more fun with this collection as he drew inspiration from the popular animation "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs". Next Melissa Nepton's collection featured oversized coats, relaxed jackets and a handkerchief skirt in soft pastels. I must say, her coats looked so warm and cosy I would love to have one on a coat winter day.

Wrapping up Day 2 was David Dixon with a strong black and white collection featuring corsets and bustiers. It looked as if he was inspired by armor and warriors as every model that strutted down the runway looked very empowered. The designer also celebrated his 20th anniversary with a short clip at the beginning.

I decided to attend Day 2 of World Mastercard Fashion Week with a pop of colour. I love the contrast of yellow against grey; there is no gender distinction with yellow either being too girly or masculine and it adds freshness. I let the skirt be the centre of attention and so everything else that was paired with it was a neutral

World Mastercard Fashion Week: Day 1

Hey everyone, it's been a week since the first show at World Mastercard Fashion Week (WMCFW) here in Toronto. For those of you who are not familiar with fashion week, WMCFW happens twice a year (Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter) and it is a chance for Canadian designers to showcase their  collections throughout the span of 5 days. For the general public you can say it is a chance to dress up, look pretty and see upcoming trends. For bloggers and other people in the industry, it is a chance to network, critic and get your hands on the latest fashion news.

Last week local designers showcased their Fall/Winter 2015 collection at David Pecaut Square. The runway shows started around 4 or 5pm each day and ran every hour till 9pm. I saw a total of 14 collections throughout the week with Sid Neigum, Melissa Nepton, Mackage, and Mikael D being my favourite.

Sid Neigum named the winner of the Mercedes-Benz start up showed his collection on Day 1 and I felt in love. His collection featured beautifully crafted white and black pieces with high collars and textured material. Each piece was as stunning and eye catching as the next. You can find more info on his collection here

Day 1 in Toronto was pretty chilly as we were expecting lower than average temperatures. Pretty much every outfit that I planned to wear to fashion week had to be reconsidered. I decided to start fashion week strong by playing with layers. Monday was the coldest day of the week and the art of layering coats helped keep me warm. I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their week and don't forget to check back for more info on the other shows.

Salt & Pepper

Hey guys it's about time that we say goodbye to Mr. Jack Frost and finally hello to some sunshine. The weather has been warming up slowly but surely in Toronto and I am super excited. I'm really looking forward to shooting again without all the dead trees and dirty snow piles in the background. It really doesn't help with choosing a location.

Anyways, so to embrace the warmer weather I wore a salt & pepper crew neck sweater with the ever so popular zara skort. Ideally I would choose to wear this outfit without the tights but as it is still not warm enough for bare legs. Until next time, I hope you guys enjoy the rest of the week ^_^

Close Knit

Here is another outfit i've styled with StyleMoi. I've never been much of a turtleneck kinda girl but  lately they have been so popular and not to mention functional during our cold winter. I love how this chunky sweater can keep my neck warm while still looking chic. You can read more about my Style Moi post here. As well you can receive 20% off your initial order with my own personal link here. Enjoy the rest of the weekend guys ^_^
